Welcoming Luve

We are so happy to welcome a new group to the Tintsaba family. Luve is about 20kms from Manzini in central Swaziland. The weavers produce a style of basket which we loved and hope to further develop as well as refine their current technique so they can produce our Tintsaba style baskets.

It all started with their leader, Thulia Agnes Mndzebele, she would produce baskets and take them to the market in Manzini to hopefully sell. This is very expensive for her, especially with traveling costs involved and sometimes she could not sell her baskets. One day, a friend of hers and weaver from Tintsaba happened to visit Thulia and saw her weaving. Thulia was then introduced to our Master Weaver, Thembi Dlamini, together they talked and discussed Tintsaba. Thembi took a sample of the Thulia's weaving to Tintsaba, we were so excited and immediately organised a meeting with Thulia and her group.

Thulia's group consisted of 30 weavers from her area, they quickly organised themselves, elected a leader and support leaders. Thulia was made leader of the Luve group. We then organised a meeting with the group, to introduce our selves, show our samples or quality and discuss how Tintsaba operates. Thembi Dlamini also joined us to help train the women, to refine their technique.

Tintsaba's baskets over the last 2 years have become evermore popular locally and internationally, so we are more than happy to welcome the Luve group. We hope with this continued growth we will be able to help more women become empowered and take control of their lives and help rural communities in Swaziland. Together we can weave a better life.
